The images on this page were either done on commission or sold from art exhibits.
The first image Heron was a watercolor done as an exploration of an idea I had, which I later turned into a 30" x 40" acrylic painting Ghost Glider, which is shown on our www.lyneart.com website.
The second image Hummingbird in a Basket was the result of a great photo taken by my husband Frank. An orphaned hummingbird chick landed on a relative's porch one afternoon, and rested for a while on the edge of a wicker basket. After a phone call got my husband to the scene to take photos, the chick even rested for a moment on my husband's finger. The small size of these birds really hits home, when you realize they are hardly bigger than a man's thumb! I wanted to show the contrast of the realtively muted colors of the chick with the bold reds and greens of the couch pattern. I couldn't resist the juxtaposition of the real hummingbird's bill with the long bill of the heron in the cloth's oriental pattern. The picture was the first work I had done completely using colored pencil.
The last image Elephant is the result of a commission for a gift for "a man who had everything" who collected images containing a man with an elephant. It struck my imagination, so I came up with this picture. To add to the uniqueness I painted the image on the reverse of a piece of glass. This entails painting the outline and details first, then the middle ground then the background last. This is exactly reverse of the normal way of painting.
